Who will benefit from this course?

This one day course will benefit anyone that has been required by their company to become a certified first aider or for anyone who would just like to receive emergency first aid training.

It is ideal for anyone who works in an office, a library, a school, a shop and any other place of work where you are around people on a regular basis. This course gives you the experience you need to be able to help someone that has hurt themselves or has been taken ill in the workplace.

The qualification that you will receive once you have completed this course will allow you to help someone with any medical treatment necessary in a calm and relaxed manner. There may be colleagues that you work with that have a heart condition, diabetes or asthma and the need for a qualified first aider is certainly needed.

All our courses are carried out by one of our friendly approved instructors. Your certificate will be valid for 3 years but after this time, you will have to repeat the EFAW course again to be qualified.

You will learn:

  • Health and Safety regulations in the workplace
  • Basic lifesaving first aid
  • The roles of a first aider

EFAW – 6 hours

Emergency First Aid Work Course

What the course will include:

  • You will learn how to administer first aid to anyone that is unconscious (recovery position)
  • You will learn how to administer first aid to anyone having a seizure
  • You will learn how to record incidents and any actions that have been carried out
  • You will understand all the rules and regulations
  • You will learn the importance of preventing cross-infection
  • You will learn how to use available equipment – the contents of a first aid kit and a defibrillator
  • You will learn basic life support (CPR) on adults and children
  • You will learn how to administer first aid to an adult or child who is choking
  • You will learn how to identify and then administer first aid to anyone with:
  • Minor wounds – small splinters, bruises, bleeding, grazes and cuts
  • Burns and scalds – Minor
  • You will learn how to administer first aid to anyone who is suffering from shock
  • You will learn how to administer first aid to anyone who has had a sprain or has strained a certain part of their body

Certification:

When you have completed the course, you will receive an EFAW certificate that will be valid for 3 years.

Where does the training take place?

The training can be carried out in your work place. We do ask that the following is required:

A suitable sized room that is inside and has an electrical socket point. It must be big enough for both theory and practical training as participants will be asked to simulate incidents on the floor. The room will need to be at a suitable temperature and will not be interrupted throughout the day while the course is taking place. There must be access to a toilet with running water.

What we will provide:

  • The examiner/trainer
  • A projector, screen and all videos needed
  • A flip chart
  • The presentation
  • The mannequins for all participants (1 between 2 people)
  • All training equipment and materials (including bandages and handouts)
