Lorry Loader Crane

Lorry loader cranes are commonly used in construction either on commercial or residential sites. This training is available as a novice or refresher for anyone wishing to update their skills on operating this machine, or ensure that they keep vital transferable skills up to date. Anyone who needs to use this delicate piece of mechanical handling equipment will find this course interesting and helpful.

Who will benefit from this course?

This course will benefit any employee who is looking to use lorry loader crane training ensure their skills are up to date. Lorry loader crane operators will be able to ensure their knowledge of industry policy changes is in date, as well as making sure they continue to work at best practice. As with driving a normal vehicle, it is easy for lorry loader crane operators to become complacent after initial training, so this course is an excellent way to ensure that does not happen.

The course is to the Road Transport Industry Training Board standards, and is available to anyone over school leaving age and of the necessary degree learning ability to complete the course. The candidate will also need a reasonable degree of physical fitness to comply with HSG6 guidelines.

What we will need from the venue:

A suitable and large enough, secure outdoors practical training area (the length and width of the vehicle + 5m or the operating radii of the crane + 5m whichever is greater) that is away from any activities, overhead cables or obstacles with level ground that is firm enough to withstand the machine and its load.

Also

  • A suitable inside room with a power point for theory training.
  • Ideally this room will remain uninterrupted
  • Access to welfare including but not exclusive to—toilets, running water, suitable temperature etc
  • A serviceable vehicle mounted hydraulic lorry loader crane meeting current legislation, fitted with a hook, with the manufacturer’s handbook
  • Suitable, safe and clearly marked lifting gear, 3 different types of load (size, weight and shape) within 75% of the cranes maximum safe working load (SWL) when at maximum radius
    6 cones and barrier tape or fixed barriers

Certification:

A certificate will be provided upon completion of the course. Should you require an RTITB operator’s card, one can be obtained for a charge of £20.00. Please bring along a passport photo, or ask the delegates you are booking onto this course to bring this if they require a card.
